Why you are not seeing results from your Virtual Assistant

Click above Are you getting the results you expected from your Virtual Assistant? A lot of the time people approached me and say, “Well I’ve hired a Virtual Assistant, but I’ve not really seen any return in investment”. There’s a couple of reasons why this could be. Today, I’m going to go through the mistakes that I see made quite often when people hire a Virtual Assistant, and how you can avoid them and get a return in your investment, that you’re going to see the results from.

1. Outsourcing the task, not the process

It’s like when you give someone a jigsaw puzzle to do. If you give someone a jigsaw puzzle and tell them to put it together so you can see the result, but you take away five pieces, that jigsaw puzzle will never be complete. And it’s the same when you’re outsourcing your tasks. If you’re outsourcing part of the process, you are still having to do part of the process as well. You’re not taking fully advantage of the fact of getting that time back because you’re still invested somewhat. When you’re outsourcing I highly recommend automating the process. And then the bits that can’t be automated are the bits that should be outsourced to a Virtual Assistant. If you are outsourcing tasks, look at the actual process. Start outsourcing the process. Once you get that mindset, you’ll see a huge difference in the results that you’ll get.

2. Hiring a Virtual Assistant before you’re ready.

People think that when they get busy, the only thing they can do is to hire a Virtual Assistant, and that’s going to make everything better. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that. A lot of the time people hire a Virtual Assistant for the wrong reasons. You should hire them, when you’re actually earning consistent money each month and it’s not going to be a burden on your budget. When you actually have a strategy, you know where you’re going, you have a plan and you have a goal. A lot of the time people think, “Well, I’m just going to hire a Virtual Assistant. I’m not really ready for it yet, but it’s been a bit chaotic, I’m overwhelmed, I don’t really know where I am, so I need to hire a Virtual Assistant”. And this really is such a big mistake. You don’t want to bring a Virtual Assistant into something that is already quite chaotic. I always recommend making sure that:

When I say systems and processes, it does not need to be complicated. It could simply be a video of you recording your screen, as you’re doing the task. If you have that in place, it will make the process of onboarding a Virtual Assistant, much easier. And it means that they know exactly what is expected of them. A lot of the time people say, well my Virtual Assistant didn’t deliver! But actually, it was a breakdown in communication. It was a bit on both parts because, when I say “Well, did you explain that to the Virtual Assistant?” They say, “No, I didn’t”. They are assistants, which means they need guidance and they still need to be managed. You can’t just give them something that you don’t know what you want done with and expect them to bring the results that you need and want. So, I hope you found this helpful.
